4 Climate Leadership Workshops Across 4 States

In partnership with leading academic institutions, the Healthy Climate Initiative (HCI) and Igniting Minds (IM) have conducted transformative climate leadership workshops across India. These workshops brought together students, researchers, and activists to explore actionable solutions for combating the climate crisis.

Each workshop featured four dynamic sessions:

1. Climate Change Impacts & Current Initiatives – Presented by Mr. Rituraj Phukan, highlighting global and local climate challenges.
2. The South Asian Water Crisis & Sustainable Solutions – Led by Mr. Karunankar Reddy, addressing critical water issues in the region.
3. The Case for Technological Climate Interventions – Delivered by Dr. Soumitra Das, emphasizing innovative technologies to mitigate climate risks.
4. Targeted Climate Solutions for Immediate Impact – Presented by Dr. Soumitra Das, showcasing practical interventions for rapid climate action.

The workshops also featured climate research presentations from university scholars, followed by collaborative group discussions focused on problem-solving and strategy development.

To offset the carbon footprint of each event, Igniting Minds commits to planting a tree for every participant. After the workshop, attendees receive a personalized tree plantation certificate with geo-tagged details and a QR code, providing a direct, lasting connection to their environmental contribution.

Hosted on January 11 by the Centre for Climate Studies, this workshop engaged 50+ Ph.D. students and faculty. Collaborative research opportunities with HCI emerged, emphasizing the role of technology in climate resilience.

Organized by the Centre for Climate Studies, the workshop was addressed by Prof Subimal Ghosh, Head of climate studies, Prof Pennan Chinnasamy, Prof Raaj Ramsankaran and the HCI team of Dr. Soumitra Das, Mardi Karunakar Reddy, and Rituraj Phukan.
